Effortless Vigilance: Simplifying Environment of Care Rounds for Infection Preventionists
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to impart expert knowledge about rounding within the environment of care in the healthcare setting through the lens of infection prevention & control.

1. Discuss the role of the environment in infection prevention.
2. Describe the five main areas assessed during rounds.
3. Identify the primary sources used to determine regulations and best practices.
4. Assess their current program for effectiveness.
MEET YOUR EXPERT INSTRUCTOR: Missy Travis, MSN, RN, CIC, FAPIC, is the founder of IP&C Consulting LLC, a consulting company that assists other Infection Preventionists, business owners, healthcare facilities, and sports teams develop an effective infection prevention program. She is also a consultant for APIC Consulting. She has 20+ years of experience focusing on infection prevention techniques and has been board certified in infection control since 2003. She has utilized her skills as an RN and IP in a variety of settings including acute-care hospitals, large university medical centers, inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, long-term care facilities, and behavioral health facilities. She has served as president of the Middle Tennessee APIC Chapter twice since 2006. She has also served in other chapter leadership positions, sitting on the board of directors, and presenting three scientific abstract posters at national meetings. She has helped implement national grants for infection prevention in the public health setting. She has created educational courses as IP Mentor, which is part of her consulting business.
