Meet Missy Travis, MSN, RN, CIC

With 20 years of experience focusing on infection prevention techniques, Missy has worked in a variety of settings including: 

  • Acute-Care Hospital

  • Large Teaching University Medical Center

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital

  • Sports Team

  • Public Health Setting

Missy received a bachelors of science in nursing from University of Kentucky, a bachelors of science in nursing arts from Georgetown College, and a masters of science in nursing from Vanderbilt University. She is a registered nurse (RN) in Tennessee and certified in Infection Control.

She is the founder of IP&C Consulting LLC, a consulting company that assists other infection preventionists, business owners, healthcare facilities, and sports teams develop an effective infection prevention program. She is also a consultant for APIC Consulting. She has 20+ years of experience focusing on infection prevention techniques and has been board certified in infection control since 2003. She has utilized her skills as an RN and IP in a variety of settings including acute-care hospitals, large university medical centers, inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, long-term care facilities, and behavioral health facilities. She has served as president ofthe Middle Tennessee APIC Chapter twice since 2006. She has also served in other chapter leadership positions, sitting on the board of directors, and presenting three scientific abstract posters at national meetings. She has helped implement national grants for infection prevention in the public health setting. She has created educational courses as IP Mentor, which is part of her consulting business.
